It was said that kidnappings and bombings are prone to the Philippines since 2002. Furthermore, it was also said that mostly kidnappers are those in the mountain in the Southern province, Sulu, named as the Abu Sayaf. Many believe that these people are doing such crime is because they are fighting for a separate state. This is the reason why the Philippines asked the American militaries to train the Philippine militaries more so that they would be able to catch the group who will do such crime again and before they can hurt other people again.
Last December, 14 Abu Sayaf were convicted for kidnapping U.S missionary couples and others, whom some of them were beheaded and killed by the raid that was conducted for the soldier’s rescue operation. However, one of the suspects, who appeared to be a woman, was acquitted.
However, it is not only here in our country that Filipinos are prone in kidnappings because there has also been an issue last May 23, 2007 that Filipinos were abducted in Nigeria, with Koreans co-workers.
