Then in 1771, they published a three volume set, which was quickly sold out, and then on 1777-84, they published their first 10 volume set as their second edition.

CMFR

The Center for Media Freedom & Responsibility was organized in 1989 as a non-stock non-profit foundation that supports the difficult work of enhancing ethical and professional values in the Philippines. CMFR is composed of journalists, business people, academics and civil society.

CMFR did not consider themselves as the “watchdog” of the press but more of the media critics. They have succeeded in establishing the idea of internal checks to prevent the abuse of press freedom or the term of self-regulation after the martial law and when democracy arrived.

They were also the one who established the Philippine Journalism Review (PJR), first as a quarterly, and later as a bi-monthly issue as a monitor of the news coverage within the country. PJR is not just a publication; it is the result of continuing monitoring of how the press covers and reports on even so as to encourage best practice.

In 2005, PJR was reformatted into a monthly issue so that the material would be more accessible to journalists, academics, and students as well as to the puclic.

In 1995, CMFR began the JVO Journalism Seminar, which brings finalists for the JVOAIJ awards in panel discussion of the best stories for the year.
